An onion

                           written by Bae Jun-seong

Not to be peeled,

an onion is making an arduous struggle in vain.

He can't but strip the barks from it.

Stripping itself

is only vanity, itself.

Still, he strips and strips the bark from an onion

and at last it becomes stark-naked.

He is shedding tears.

The man who has stripped the onion

is weeping.

The man is looking at the skins of the onion.

He is looking at the removed skins of the onion.

It shouted, "Let me be alive", but in vain.

The man is shedding tears,

with making no sound.

He is sinking into distressful abyss

Over and over again

he is gazing at the stripped skins of the onion.

In his heart, it is still shouting, "Let me relive".

He is only wailing with all his heart.
